Rapid XP steps

There are 8 steps that we help you work through which are consistent, engaging, enable a collaborative mindset and best of all, it’s fun. We aim to take you through these steps while engaging with end users, stakeholders, customers and management alike.

problem statement

1. Problem statement

The process of building a product must start with the problem you are trying to solve. It should clearly articulate what a business/user wants to achieve through the use of the new feature, function or application that is being built.

design workshop

2. Design workshop

The design workshop is a user-focused session that enables the sharing of ideas. It is a sketching session that gets participants thinking in terms of pain points, workflow, engagement, collaboration, inclusion and innovation. Best outcomes are achieved by running a workshop per problem statement.

3. Low-fi wireframes

Sketched ideas and solutions are consolidated into a set of wireframes that are indented to capture a products potential MVP. All ideas are combined and synergized with known triggers and patterns to develop a user journey.

4. Validation session one

With the same participants as the original design workshop. This validation session is for stakeholders to give feedback on the direction of the product being designed. The wireframes are reviewed with the participants confirming previous ideas have been correctly interpreted.

5. Hi-fi wireframes

Now it’s time to breath life into the solution that has been imagined! This is a UI design mini-sprint where designers are given the opportunity to visualise what the experience can look like. Nothing is in concrete even after this exercise is completed.

6. Validation session two

This session is run in the exact format of the first session. The key difference is that we are using participants to validate the product using high fidelity designs as the main visual artefact instead of the previously produced wireframes.

7. Prototype build

We will use a visual product to turn the creative designs from the previous step into a clickable prototype that works on the target device.

8. Product showcase

We finally get all participants to join in again as we unveil the prototype which demonstrates the product or set of new features and functions that have been designed.
